March 2010 Newsletter

Dear Parents,

March is a time of shamrocks and leprechauns…. a time of whistling winds, and a time of seasonal change. Spring has spread its wings of colors and sunlight. The children are bursting with energy and soaking up the wonderful sunshine.

The curriculum for March is:

*Glad to be Me! *St. Patrick’s Day *Spring * Music

The Schoolagers will be out March 15-19 for Spring Break.
St. Patrick’s Day is on the 17th. The shamrock is not just a symbol of luck. It was used to preach Christianity to the Irish in 389 A.D. St. Patrick used the shamrock to represent the Trinity. Since Ireland’s nickname is the Emerald Isle, green is worn to celebrate the occasion.

Children come first in this Center. Children benefit from the attention of parents during drop-off and pick-up times. The use of cell phone while you are with your children is not good. Children need the undivided attention of their families during pick-up and drop-off times. Also please do not forget to sign in and out.

We would like to remind you to bring extra clothes and underwear for your children in case of potty accident.

Thank you again for sharing your child with us! We strive everyday to do what is best for your child. If you have any questions or concerns please let us know in the office and we will talk to the best of our abilities.

Dear Parents,

Summer has ended and Fall is just around the corner. This season is a treat every year in the classrooms; there are many activities to participate in that can help your child with creativity, and small and large motor skills. Our October curriculum is as follows:

Fire Prevention Columbus Day Five Senses Halloween

Thank you for participating to the fundraiser. Our net profit is $195.75. The first winner is Kylee and Kaylee Hargrove family, the second winner is Zayne Allen family, and the third winner is Kaymen Brosh family.

Several important new laws passed durintg the 81st Legislature;

*Changes to the Law related to transportation safety

As of September 1st children under the age of eight, unless they are at least 4’9’ tall, must ride in the appropriate child safety or booster seat.

*Gang-free zone

A gang-free zone is a designated area within 100 feet of a school or child care program. This means parents or guardians need to be informed that certain gang-related activity or engaging in organized criminal activity within this zone is a violation of this law and is therefore subject to increased penalty.

Also you can get information about Consumer Product Safety Recalls at www.cpsc.gov or www.dfps.state.tx.us.

October 12th is early release day for public schools.

The children will be having a Halloween party in their rooms on October 30th, during the lunch and snack time. Children will also be trick or treating from class to class. Ms. Jenny’s class will have a Halloween Costume Parade. The sign up sheets for your class will be posted outside your child’s classroom door two weeks prior to the party.

We would like to remind you to bring extra clothes and underwear for your children in case of potty accident. Also please do not forget to sign in and out your child. It is very important for the safety of all the children.

Thank you again for allowing us to play such an important part in your child’s life.
